“On Da Set,” An Internet Radio Show Confession… “I have Cancer.”

During our “On Da Set” special Sunday Broadcast of the new “15 Minutes of Fame” segment, a startling confession was made by one of our open mic guests.

The very delightful and charismatic Will Gage was one of our open mic featured guests. He was invited to be a guest on our show to share some of his poetry with us all on the air. Will Gage has shown continuous support of “On Da Set” and an avid listener since our show’s inception.

I met Will through the MySpace Community Network and we hit it off immediately, instantly becoming friends. We were always chatting online about life, music, and everything else under the sun. Will would always send me comments on my page containing quotes of wisdom and inspiration, which would always lighten up my day. I knew right away that having Will as a guest on my show would be insightful, as he is well read and diverse, and unbiased in opinions.

During my preliminary conversation with Will prior to the show he stated that he had something he wanted to share. He asked if it would be OK to be completely raw and honest during the broadcast… Of course, I said, “Yes,” because the entire premise of our show is based on Raw Truth. We take pride in giving it to you like it is!

I had advised will not to share it with me just yet and to save it as a surprise for the show. I appreciate the natural reaction when receiving new information on the show, and I wanted to be equally surprised as our listeners. My mind was fluttering with guesses, as to what it could be, but nothing had prepared me for what he was about to reveal…

As Luis and I began our interview with Will, he took the entire interview in a unsuspecting direction with his personal confession live on the air… “I have Cancer.” WHOA! Luis and I both gasped in shock to hear that this strong, inspirational young man was battling with cancer. It hit me right in my heart!

Will opened his heart to us as spoke candidly about his experiences during a three month stay in the hospital on the cancer ward, and how that affected him. This brave, young man never felt that he was going to die, and courageously stated that, “I believe things happen for a reason.” Indeed they do.

It was there in the hospital that he began keeping a journal and honing his remarkable writing talents. We were so fortunate to have Will on as our guest a share a beautiful Poem that he read on the air. Suffice to say, we were all holding back tears.

We celebrate Will’s life, as he is now in remission, going strong with so much to live for! Will is a cancer survivor, and is here to share with you his gifts of writing and inspiration.

15 Minutes of Fame! Enter My Cipher for an Open Mic Session, Live On Internet Radio

Last Sunday, October 1st, we aired a special broadcast segment entitled, “15 Minutes of Fame, Open Mic Session.” Our 15 Minutes Of Fame Segment will be regularly integrated into our show’s programming schedule at least once a month, where we will showcase Live, Open Mic Sessions over the Internet Radio airwaves! Exciting, Raw, and Real! This is something you do not want to sleep on!

My Co-host, Luis and I both grew up in a place where Hip Hop culture was concentrated — THE MECCA of the Boogie Down, Bronx! Although I work with high profile celebrities now, I came from the era of B-Boys, Graffiti, Backpacks, Boom Boxes, Turntablism and the art of the Emcee. So it is only natural for me to incorporate my love for Hip Hop and Music into my show. I welcome all Emcees from all over the globe to jump into my cipher and do what they do best, which is Spit The Truth in their devastating rhyme schemes!

The concept behind “15 Minutes of Fame” is simply to offer all aspiring music artists an opportunity to have a forum where their talents can be heard by other industry professionals that are within my own personal power circle, as well as network with other listeners who are tuning into my show. You never know who will be listening, and you just may even earn a new fan of your music!

The Open Mic Session will not only be open just to rap recording artists, but we will also feature Open Mic Sessions for R&B/Soul Singers to showcase their vocal talents as well. RECAP OF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2006

Have you ever heard of Internet Radio Bloopers? If not, I may have just invented it! HAHA! This past Thursday I could have sworn there was a full moon out to get me! It must have been something in the air!

The format of Thursday’s show was going to feature 3 guests for an amazing open mic session. Our guests included three aspiring entertainers by the name of, Will Gage, Mr. 13, and Rev.

At the beginning of the show’s live broadcast, I started out by telling Luis what an awful week I had, leading up the events of last Thursday’s Internet Radio Show. I was ranting for several minutes about having PMS, Food Poisoning and everything else that could go wrong! (Yes, I said it! PMS! Big Deal and get over it! I keep it REAL!)

Anyway, as my incredible luck would have it, the evening would only begin to get WORSE! As I was rambling on I received an impromptu Instant Message from “BOB” at Blog Talk Radio, asking me if I was even on the air… (You should have seen the look on my face as I read that! LOL!) 

Yeah, of course I was on… But, NO ONE COULD HEAR ME! “AGHHHH!!!!” Bob was working diligently to aide me during my Internet Radio CRISIS! I was completely frantic! My co-host Luis of course, was his usual oblivious self, rambling on about the Yankees and God Knows what! HAHA!

I was coming on and off the air. My listeners were instant messaging me like crazy! Then, things got even more hysterical! (This is where the Bloopers part comes in.) I attempted to pick up several calls that were coming in on my hotline from my scheduled guests… It wasn’t working! At this point, I was ready to be hauled off in a straight jacket!

Once my Telephone Switch Board started working, (finally) I started picking up calls like a mad woman! LITERALLY! Luis insisted it was a bad idea, but I didn’t listen… Next thing you know, I have 3 callers on the line, talking amongst themselves. It was a “Party Line” flashback of chaos! (Remember before Myspace there was those infamous “Party Lines?” Oh, God!)

Luis & I were yelling at them to get their attention, and we thought they were being rude to ignore their hosts! But, the only thing was, they weren’t ignoring us! They simply could not even hear us! HAHA! What the hell? It was then Luis and I realized that we were disconnected from our own Internet Radio Show, and our guests were running the show with out us! AGGGGHHHHH!

After struggling with the technical issues, and so forth, we finally managed to get everything back under control. Whew! [Wiping sweat off my brow] What a mess! I could not pull myself together after all that. I was completely thrown off and disarrayed. For the duration of the show I was in “La-La Land,” in someplace far, far away!

When you mix the Radio and the Internet together, anything can happen and you just have to try to roll with the punches! Or, go crazy like I did! LOL! And, since the show is broadcast live, it is not like I can go back and edit out all the bloopers. I wouldn’t want to anyway… To be quite honest, everyone who tuned in seemed to LOVE IT!

Once the show was finally over and I had an opportunity to download it into my own Podcast, I had to admit that the show was freakin’ HILARIOUS! (To say the least!)

You will definitely want to Download this Internet Radio Show into your podcast for a few laughs. This is an “On Da Set” classic filled with some serious bloopers! Let the Good Times Roll, Baby!

SIGN PETITION FOR TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR TO EARN STAR ON HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME!

On our show, Thursday, September 14, 2006, we briefly discussed the 10th Anniversary of Tupac Shakur’s death, which took place this past week on Saturday, September 9, 2006.

Tupac’s Mother, a former Black Panther, Afeni Shakur was going to hold a ceremony in South Africa to Commerate Tupac Shakur’s death, however due to personal reasons she has now postponed the trip. The trip has been rescheduled for the date of June 16, 2007.

Afeni made the following statement in a recent press release: “My family and I regret that they must postpone the trip to South Africa to a later date, due to personal reasons. We understand the work and time that everyone has put into making this trip possible, but the work of helping the children of South Africa must continue. We will still be sending aid and relief to those organizations and groups that we have established relationships with including the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Over the next couple of months, we want to spend time strengthening those ties. The invitation for the two students to come over to the Tupac Shakur Center on an exchange remains open and we intend to see it to fruition.”

For those who are not familiar with the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, to date over 500 students have benefited from the various programs with a broad range of training available via the Annual Performing Arts Camp. Students study creative writing, vocal technique, acting, stage set design, dance, poetry and spoken word. The Foundation has also hosted Essay competitions throughout the U.S., charity Golf Tournaments and awarded scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate degrees.

Also in Tupac news, rising rap artist, Muszamil, a protégé of the late rapper and extended member of the family, has organized a petition to get Tupac a much deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He will be touring the country in support of his new album entitled, “Makaveli Presents… Muszamil – Reparations Is Due.” Also in his campaign he will be heavily promoting the petition signing to grant Tupac a Walk of Fame Hollywood Star. 

Please show your respect and appreciation of this great rap legend, Tupac Amaru Shakur. For his contributions to society and to music, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is Well Deserved!

Former Gangster turned Celebrity Actor, Luis Antonio Ramos Talks Candidly About His Grim Past

 

The premiere of the new, controversial Internet Radio Show, “On Da Set” was a success!

During the introduction of the World Premiere of the brand new Blog Talk Radio show, “ON DA SET,” we delve deep into the life of a former Gangster turned Actor, Luis Antonio Ramos.

Luis is an ON DA SET featured co-host, opposite Celebrity Publicist, Idalyze Nasiha Rose. Together, they dish the dirt and candidly discuss the life and times of Luis growing up in the rough streets of the Bronx, New York and how he was able to leave the life of a drug dealer and gang member, and move on to become one of the greatest character actors of our time.
